The latest cohort of 12 Land-based Pre‑apprentices recently completed their training induction at SRUC Craibstone last month (January).
Their induction week offered a valuable introduction to agriculture, hands-on learning, new friendships, and the first steps toward careers rooted in the land-based sector.
Gail Robertson, Group Operations Manager said: “The group has already shown enthusiasm and a real passion for the sector.
“Ringlink looks forward to supporting their development and watching their skills grow over the months ahead.
“In the past 12 years, 250 pre-apprentices have passed through the programme, and 80% are still either working on the farm they trained on or working elsewhere within the industry.
“The pre-apprenticeship is undoubtedly providing a valuable source of new talent for the land-based sector.”
There is a catch, however. Of the 12 new recruits, five are still waiting for a mentor who is willing to develop their skills.
Ringlink is appealing for businesses from the areas of Aberdeen, Cupar, Elgin, Monymusk and Inverness, who could offer six months employment to get in contact. You don’t even have to be a Ringlink member to be a mentor.
